A cornerstone initiative of the NSW Premier’s $1.58 million commitment to growing Australia’s technology and innovation relationship with India.
India is forecast to overtake US GDP in 2035. As one of the most important trading partners for NSW, what will our future look like together? How might we collaborate to build stronger industries? India is one of the world’s most dynamic, fast paced and quickly-developing technology markets. As India is a key trading partner, NSW Treasury and NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment wanted to increase the NSW state’s engagement with India, with a particular emphasis on the tech industry. The challenge was to kick start this with the inaugural Access India program.
Fusion Labs was asked to run a 12-month accelerator program, open to both startups and scale-ups, to provide NSW-based entrepreneurs with a pathway to access the Indian market. We designed the program, selected 7 companies to participate, providing mentoring, business development support, and guidance in navigating international markets.
The program was well received by NSW and Indian stakeholders. The first Access India cohort included:
AI engineering software
Decentralised solar energy
Next-generation DNA sequencing for newborns
